About

What is going on in this world?  How do we make sense of it? Or in this case, how do I make sense of it? This blog is written by James Love. Lately is it mostly a few odds and ends of how I cope of some glitches in technology, such as making software work, dealing with phone company billing problems, or the new world of Internet marketing we all experience. Some of these notes will only be of interest to someone who needs to solve a very specific problem, such as making a Toshiba 1405-S151 video card work better in Linux, or getting a Dell 600m internal wifi card to work in Linux. I used to call this blog “the Modern World” or “Dealing with the Modern World,” or some other versions using the term, Modern World, but I am a fan of Tom Tomorrow, who has a blog named “this Modern World“, so for now, its’ Dealing with the New Century.

Most of my blogging about politics or policy issues takes place elsewhere, such as these other places I blog:

I have a brief Bio for work here.

I sometimes get asked for pictures for conferences or news articles. Here are some photos of me. I am currently using the September 2008 picture from DNDi.
